A founding partner, along with his brother Frank W. Hamilton, of The Hamilton Law Firm, P.C., he has been practicing law in the state of Georgia since his admission to the State bar in 1994. Jim Hamilton received his Juris Doctor from Atlanta Law School in 1993, and his Master of Law degree from Atlanta Law School in 1994.

Jim Hamilton achieved a Bachelor of Building Construction degree from the University of Florida, College of Architecture and Fine Arts in 1975. Before going to law school, Jim was a builder and contractor in Georgia, and a licensed Registered Building Contractor in Florida, running his own companies for many years, as well as being a founding partner in several other contracting type businesses.

Jim Hamilton is the 2008 President of the Forsyth County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also the 2008 Chairman of the Forsyth County Indigent Defense Tripartite Committee and currently serves as one of two "on-call" Defense Attorneys for the Forsyth County Felony Adult Drug Court.

Mr. Hamilton is certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in standardized field sobriety testing. This training, which is identical to the education police officers receive, allows him to identify improperly administered field sobriety tests in your Georgia DUI case.

While the majority of Jim Hamilton's practice is in the area of criminal law, he has also practiced in the areas of civil litigation, family law, personal injury, juvenile law, and construction law, including lien foreclosures, for over a decade.

In his spare time, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and grandchildren.
